Terms of use

Last updated 12 July 2026

The rules for using this website and, when they go live, free accounts on our Grants Finder. Using the site means you accept them. They are short, and written to be read.

Who we are

The Start is operated by Marc Andres, a self-employed professional (autónomo) in Sabadell (Barcelona), Spain. Contact: marc@thestart.agency.

What this site is

This site explains what The Start does, and it will host the Grants Finder, our directory of grant funders. Everything on it is information, not advice. It is not legal advice, not financial advice, and not a promise that any funder will fund you. For decisions that matter, take proper advice.

About the grant information

We check the funder data we publish, and we record where each fact came from and when we last checked it. Funders still change their rules, deadlines, and amounts without telling anyone. So the rule is simple: verify with the funder before you rely on anything here.

If you find an error, tell us at marc@thestart.agency and we will fix it.

Free accounts, when they go live

The Grants Finder is not live yet. When it opens, a free account will give you access to the funder directory and email alerts. When accounts exist:

  • Keep your sign-in details to yourself. An account is for one person.
  • Signing in sets one strictly-necessary cookie that keeps you connected, and signing out ends it. Our cookie policy describes that cookie in full.
  • Tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
  • You can close your account whenever you like. Alerts stop when you unsubscribe or close it.
  • We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We will say why.

Fair use of the site

Use the site lawfully and normally. That means:

  • Do not attack it, overload it, or probe it for weaknesses.
  • Do not try to get around access rules.
  • Do not copy the directory in bulk, scrape it, or resell it.
  • Quoting a reasonable amount, with credit, is welcome.

Whose content is whose

The text and design of this site belong to The Start. Funder names and their published information belong to the funders. Anything you send us stays yours.

What we do not promise

We work to keep the site accurate, safe, and available. We do not promise perfection. The site is provided as it is and as available, and we may change or withdraw parts of it. None of this removes rights the law gives you that cannot be taken away by terms like these.

Liability

We are liable where Spanish law says we are. These terms never exclude or limit liability for fraud or intentional harm, nor anything else the law forbids excluding.

Beyond that, and as far as Spanish law allows: we are not liable for losses caused by relying on directory information you did not verify with the funder, or by the site being unavailable.

Law and courts

Spanish law governs these terms. Disputes go to the courts of Sabadell (province of Barcelona), Spain. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep every protection your own law gives you, including any right to bring a claim in your own courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and meaningful changes get flagged plainly on this page. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.
